Dear students,

Welcome to the Department of English Language and Literature of İstanbul Galata University.

Education in English Language and Literature offers an extraordinary opportunity to explore the power of language, the richness of literary traditions and the various cultural contexts in which texts are produced and received. Our department is based on the belief that language and literature are at the center of understanding human experience, shaping critical thought and fostering meaningful communication in an increasingly interconnected world.

As the Department of English Language and Literature, we are committed to creating a dynamic academic environment based on intellectual originality, inclusiveness and innovation. Our curriculum is designed to combine close textual analysis with theoretical inquiry, linguistic awareness and interdisciplinary perspectives.
