About Us

The Istanbul Galata University Department of Psychology offers a dynamic four-year undergraduate program that aims to explore the nature of the human mind and behavior while also supporting both the professional competencies and personal development of its students. Located in the city center, our department offers students the opportunity to learn psychology intertwined with urban life, in interaction with different cultures and real-life experiences.

Psychology is by its nature a multidisciplinary field, and our program covers a wide range of subfields to reflect this richness, such as Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, Psychometrics, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Learning Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Neuropsychology, Forensic Psychology and Sport Psychology.

At Istanbul Galata University, psychology education is not limited to the classroom environment; within the multicultural structure of the city, our students are raised as individuals who understand different psychological needs and who develop positive and scientific approaches sensitive to these needs. Throughout the education process, thanks to internship and practice opportunities carried out in various institutions, students reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

In our department, education is offered in two languages, Turkish and English; students are prepared for career opportunities at both national and international levels and gain a global perspective.

Our graduates have the opportunity to work in many different fields such as hospitals, schools, rehabilitation centers, companies, universities, courthouses, non-governmental organizations and public institutions with the title of “Psychologist”; if they wish, they can establish their own professional businesses.

In addition, our graduates can continue their academic and professional development by pursuing postgraduate education in the fields they are interested in, in Türkiye and abroad.
