About Us

The Istanbul Galata University Department of Public Relations and Advertising has set as its main focus, starting from the foundation of the basic communication fields of public relations and advertising, training successful communicators who, with an integrated communication effort, can think creatively, make strategic decisions, carry out brand-oriented work, and convey these to the relevant target audiences by combining them with visual design.

The Department of Public Relations and Advertising has an education system focused on two main parts. From the public relations point of view, our department aims to train communication professionals who will specialize in fields such as corporate communication, crisis management, strategic management, reputation and image management, and social responsibility management. From the advertising point of view, it aims to train advertising specialists who know the working principles of advertising, who can correctly read the relationships between production and consumption and form target audiences accordingly, who know the ways advertising works in various media environments, who can create advertising work accordingly, and who aim to professionalize in the field of advertising.

Our department, which has a basic course program created in accordance with current information related to the communication sector and the digitalizing communication environment, also brings together sector stakeholders and the academic world, thereby attaching importance both to students getting to know the communication sector and to bringing together academia and professionals in the public relations and advertising sectors. In addition to taking core field courses such as Marketing Communication, Introduction to Public Relations, Introduction to Advertising, Brand Communication, Advertising Copywriting, Consumer Behavior and Advertising Analyses, our department's students also specialize in the fields of Public Relations and Advertising by taking elective courses such as TV Advertising, Digital Public Relations, Advertising Photography, and Culture Industry and Advertising. Together with our computer laboratory, which is continuously developed and updated according to current technologies, our students can experience digital design approaches and applications more effectively. In addition, they prepare to enter professional working life with the Public Relations and Advertising Campaign projects to be carried out in the final year.

Our department offers its students the opportunity to study abroad through the Erasmus program, enabling our students to become acquainted with new cultures and various ideas and educational styles. In addition, our public relations and advertising department, which also offers Double Major and Minor opportunities, allows its students to develop and specialize in other fields as well.

Technical Facilities

In our department, there is a working opportunity where students can develop themselves in a professional environment with computer laboratories that are continuously updated according to technological developments and open for our students' use for digital design and applications, and with cameras that they can use for photography courses.

Our students who will graduate from the Public Relations and Advertising department work in public relations agencies, advertising agencies, digital marketing and digital communication/advertising agencies, digital social media agencies, the communication departments of public institutions and organizations, media and television organizations, and media planning agencies; as account executive, copywriter, art director, media planning specialist, communication specialist, strategic planning specialist, researcher and communication director.
