Head of Department's Message

Dear Students, welcome to the İstanbul Galata University Logistics Management Department!

In today's global economic system, logistics and supply chain management have gone beyond being merely an operational area of activity and have become a decisive strategic element in businesses gaining a competitive advantage. Digital transformation, the rapid spread of e-commerce, sustainability-oriented approaches and the change in customer expectations make it necessary for logistics processes to be managed in a more integrated, more flexible and more efficient manner. In this context, as the Logistics Management Department, our fundamental goal is to train individuals who can correctly analyze changing world conditions, develop innovative solutions and produce value in a global perspective.

The education-teaching activities carried out in our department are designed to establish a strong connection between theoretical knowledge and practice. While our students acquire comprehensive knowledge in fields such as supply chain management, transportation systems, warehouse and stock management, foreign trade operations, e-logistics, logistics information systems and performance management, they also find the opportunity to develop analytical thinking, data-based decision-making and problem-solving skills. Our education program is continuously updated in line with current developments and needs in the sector; it is aimed that our students have the equipment to be able to adapt to the rapidly changing business world after graduation.

Our academic staff consists of faculty members who are experts in their field and have high scientific productivity; it aims not only to transfer knowledge to our students but also to provide them with the competency of critical thinking, conducting research and questioning. Sector cooperation, applied courses, project-based studies, case analyses and internship opportunities constitute an important part of our education process so that our students can transform their theoretical knowledge into practice. In this way, our students gain experience oriented toward real business life and come to a position where they can compete in the business world after graduation.

The dynamic structure of the logistics sector also brings with it an interdisciplinary perspective. Accordingly, the education provided in our department offers an integrated structure with different fields such as business, marketing, finance, information technologies and international trade. In particular, contemporary subjects such as digitalization, big data analytics, automation systems and sustainable logistics applications occupy an important place in our course contents. This approach contributes to our students developing competencies that can respond not only to today's but also to the future's logistics needs.

In addition to our students' academic development, supporting their personal and professional development is also among our priorities. The seminars organized within this scope, the meetings held with sector professionals, career events and international exchange programs allow our students to expand their visions and gain different perspectives. Our aim is for our graduates to be trained not only as individuals with knowledge but also as professionals who are committed to ethical values, with a high sense of responsibility and who contribute to society.

As the Logistics Management Department, we continue to train our students as the successful managers and specialists of the future by equipping them with the knowledge, skills and competencies required by the rapidly transforming global system. We express that we will be very pleased to see you among us on this journey, and I wish all our students and candidates an academic life full of success.

Respectfully,

Asst. Prof. Dr. Dilek ULUCAN ERKESİM
