Mission and Vision

Mission

The mission of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design is to train interior architects who, drawing on the multi-layered urban fabric of Galata, the intersection point of İstanbul's historical, cultural and spatial layers, can address interior space within the integrity of aesthetics, functionality and user experience. In this direction, our department aims to train professionals who have developed critical thinking skills, who can integrate design knowledge with research and application processes, who can establish a relationship between the local context and global design approaches, and who adopt ethical and sustainable design principles.

Vision

The vision of our department is to create a pioneering education and research environment recognized at the national and international scale that integrates Galata's historical heritage with contemporary design approaches and that carries out intellectual and design production on urban memory, spatial experience and user-orientation. In this scope, our department aims to be a center that strengthens interdisciplinary cooperation, encourages innovative and critical approaches in design, and produces and transforms knowledge by establishing an effective interaction between academia and the sector.v
